representational line drawings
Small, intimate studies of people and places that matter.

Costa, Great Marlborough Street. Pencil 210 x 148 mm
These pieces are about
the immediate experience of looking.
They are concerned with moments in time,
in the everyday places
where we live and work.
Mostly they are drawn in hardback sketchbooks
that have taken up residence
in my pockets and bags.
Emotional content is expressed
through technique
and when drawing with a pencil
I prefer an HB,
as it is commonplace and
not given to extremes of behaviour.
I use a fineliner for pen work because it is entirely predictable
and doesn't have a mind of its own.
The aim is to entice the viewer
into another reality, one which
makes the ordinary an alluring prospect.
