Had a clear out, only on here! Need to sort out for sale pieces next and maybe consolidate music practice and people watching into just portraits. Spent a lot of today reading 'The Essential Guide to Business for Artists & Designers' gripping stuff! really! Want to get Monday out of the way, then I'll know if exchange is still on the cards, you never know what's round the corner ...

Have decided to take friend's advice and change to black and white. Also I've just found out that you can create your own theme pages for those clever enough to do things with html and css ... so we'll be leaving that alone for a while. I shall be having a sort out on here over the next few days which means that some of these pictures will only be visible on flickr.com/photos/evers4/ I have to start getting my priorities in order.

Went over yesterday's sketch with the wonderful caran d'ache neocolor II watersoluble wax pastels and the result is on the home page. Feel much better for that. Sleeping on things is always a good idea:) The pastels are good for additions to watercolour and for using dry but they seem to bleed a little to much/quickly. I went over my 'waitrose' sketch with  some water and it sucks the life out of them a bit and slightly muddies the reds.

it's all very well learning new stuff and experimenting and the like but when it goes wrong it's not terribly good for ones confidence. On the whole, my watercolour work is not all that. I am a pencil person at heart and I draw portraits and things with odd angles. Sometimes its good to stick to what you know. Okay, all I did wrong was paint the window in a house badly and the inking in was rather clumsy too. I have also noticed that looking at my photostream on flickr, the drawings which get the most views are those which are detailed, coloured or technical. I think I need to get the extra fine nib for my rotring

started on a new drawing today which i am not going to put up yet because at the moment it's a bit of a nothing. I found a rather quirky building next to waitrose in south woodford and thought it was worth recording. Got interesting windows and chimneys. Next interior will be from the top of the stairs looking down, ... some time this week. Doing a new picture a day should really be a doddle!  I am still moving, really, exchange should be next week, i can't be more definite than that.

Went to the SAA fair at the business design centre in islington today with my mum which was fun. As you can see on my home page i got the staircase finished. Drawing long straight lines freehand is not easy but one has to practice. I saw some wooden scale finders today and wondered whether to buy some but then i thought not because its way better to be able to learn to take notice, concentrate and work things out for yourself rather than to make a habit of relying on amusing little gadgets.

Hello Wembly!!! Always wanted to say that. Thanks for logging on:) Got the table back to ikea and got the refund. The new picture a day on the home page idea does have a downside in that although people may log on to see it, they wont necessarily go and see what else is around. I shall end up with returning bounce rates. I have started one tonight which I will put up in a sec when I've written this. Drawn from the second step up it shows the turn of the staircase, I'll re post it when I've done some more.

After school I went to Ikea with my long suffering friend Helen to take back an oversized table I bought in May. Owing to the fact there was a problem with their system for people who don't bring their receipts back, we brought it home again. Helen, who is the patron saint of the disorganised, will do the whole run again tomorrow.

New picture on the home page. I need to to something akin to 'Julie and Julia' and do a new drawing every day. Still want to impress the powers that be at Urban Sketchers so I have a double incentive!

I Wrote back to Urban Sketchers with an actual link to my photostream so hopefully I got that right. I need to do something more to my site to decrease the bounce rate. Really i need to be getting visitors to click on the buy now button because as someone once said "If you're not in business because you enjoy it or for the profit, what the hell are you doing there?" These considerations have come to the surface now because I've just watched the final of the apprentice. Good old Tom.
